Princess Diana's old sweatshirt that she wore to the gym has been sold at an auction for a whopping amount of $53,532. The Virgin Atlantic sweatshirt is navy blue in colour and Princess Diana was frequently spotted exiting her gym in it paired with shorts. Princess Diana had presented the sweater to her personal trainer Jenni Rivett and she put it up for auction recently.
During an interview in 2018, Jenni had said that Princess Diana used to trick the paparazzi by wearing the sweatshirt every day following her workout sessions as she stepped out of the gym. That every picture of hers would be in this particular sweatshirt outside the gym and the media would soon get bored is what Princess Diana opined, as per Jenni. "Every single session all the media were outside camped with their stepladders, and cameras and lenses and everything. For her, she just found it so incredibly, 'Why are they so interested in me when there are more important things to worry about in the world.' It wasn't her that asked for all this. I remember one of her strategies was that she was going to wear the same Virgin Active sweatshirt every single session," Jenni told Yahoo News.
The sweatshirt was sold to an anonymous bidder on July 11 while People also reports that Jenni, in the sale, also included the handwritten note from Princess Diana that she had received along with the gift. "Dearest Jenni, Lots of love from, Diana, x," the note reads.
