1. Determine your skin type there are 5 different skin types:
Normal, oil, dry, combination, and sensitive. By fully understanding your skin type, you can make well-informed decisions about the products, ingredients, and formulas that will work best for YOU. For example, those with dry skin should focus more on hydration and maintaining moisture levels, while those with oily skin may want to focus on reducing shine and treating acne.
Sensitive skin is often considered a skin type, but you can have normal and sensitive skin, oily and sensitive skin, or dry and sensitive skin. If you have sensitive skin, it may be red, itchy, dry, or feel like it is burning. These symptoms may be related to having skin that is more susceptible to external irritants and may be triggered by certain ingredients, like fragrances or dyes, and environmental factors.
2. Introduce new products into your routine SLOWLY:
After reading this guide, you may be really excited to go out and buy new products to try out. However, it is SUPER important to introduce newer products to your routine one product at a time. If a product causes a reaction or any skin irritation, you'll be able to easily identify which product has caused the issue.
3. Change your mindset around skincare routines:
If you view keeping up with a skincare routine as a chore, then you may be less likely to enjoy it or to keep up with it. Consistency is KEY when it comes to reaping the benefits of a solid skincare routine. Ever since I have shifted my mindset to viewing my skincare routine as an act of self-care and self-love, I don't view keeping up with my skincare routine as an annoying chore. And my glowing skin thanks me for it!
