BMW Motorrad unveiled the 2021 S1000R. The new bike draws on the phenomenal present generation S1000RR, with an all-new take on styling and bounty of new features. The first most apparent change is the new headlamp which brings the 2021 S1000R on the same page as its siblings, the F900R and the G 310 R, in terms of styling. The rest of the panels, ie, the tank, the new belly pan and the radiator guard all have the same sinewy but svelte character of the S1000RR.
Being a derivative of the S1000RR, the rear section is lifted straight off the fully-faired beemer right down to the exhaust. The S1000R will use a slightly tweaked version of the RR's chassis to better suited for the Rs upright riding triangle. Under the skin, is a re-tuned version of the S1000RR’s 999cc, inline-four-cylinder motor. In the R it makes a modest 165bhp at 11,000rpm and 115Nm of torque at 9250rpm, with a focus on a more linear power curve. Of course, this is aside from an array of optional weight savers on offer from BMW including forged wheels and carbon-fibre hoops. To add to the comfort focussed appeal, the RR will get a handlebar that can be adjusted within the range of 10mm for a better fit to the rider.
