The All India Law Entrance Test is one of the most revered and demanding law admission exams in the country. Conducted for BA LLB, LLM and PhD programs at National Law Universities and beyond,

AILET 2020 exam will take place on August 18th 2020 from 11 AM to 12:30 PM through Remote Proctored Test [RPT] mode. How to Prepare for AILET: AILET Syllabus & Pattern
Before diving into the approach you should take, let’s take a look at the AILET 2020 syllabus for BA LLB and what it consists of. Candidates will be given a total of 90 minutes to solve 150 questions carrying one mark each. These questions are categorised into five sections, mentioned below. How to Prepare for AILET: English

The English section consists of 35 questions of one mark each which test the grasp of a candidate over the fundamentals of English grammar as well as problem-solving abilities.
• Elements of the Passage: Each passage is made up of certain elements, namely, its main idea/theme, author’s point of view and counter-arguments, if any and conclusion. The main idea is the subject on which the passage focuses on, it is what it deals with. Secondly, the author’s point of view is the speaker/narrator who presents arguments & counter-arguments. A lot depends on his tone whether it is critical or neutral, positive or negative. Lastly, the conclusion is where everything comes to a wrap, a final closing argument.

• You can either take the ’Top-down’ approach or the ’bottoms-up’ approach. While the former emphasises close reading the passage before answering, the latter stresses on questions then the passage. Choose whichever mode suits you and stick to it. However, do give the passage an initial scanning for a brief idea.

How to Prepare for AILET: General Knowledge
A total of 35 questions are asked from general awareness and current affairs.
• Divide the GK AILET syllabus into Static GK [general history, geography, etc.] and Dynamic GK [current affairs]. How to Prepare for AILET: Legal Aptitude
The AILET syllabus for Legal Aptitude can be said to be a little for a lot of students. Here are a few points that’ll help you.

•    Typically, the questions are constructed around Legal Principles and Facts. A principle might state ‘Whoever causes the death of any person by doing any rash or negligent act shall be guilty of negligence’. Based on this, you will be presented with an example of a fact or incident. Further, the question may ask you to identify a particular aspect of fact in light of the given principal and infer from it a valid and correct conclusion.

•    Test-takers must understand that it is not required to memorise legal principles, legal maxims and laws.
