WhatsApp is working on a new feature that is a part of its efforts to curb fake news on its platform. The Facebook-owned company is reportedly developing an image search tool called Search Image to let users upload any images right from the chat to Google and check for its authenticity. Google will read the image and offer the images that are either original or have been published online, which in turn will help users identify doctored or fake images.
WABetaInfo reports that Search Image feature is not available in any of the betas as of now. However, this feature is expected to be rolled out in coming beta versions by WhatsApp for Android.
