Addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that today, the heartbeat of every Indian resonates with the chant of “Vande Mataram.” “Today, there is the Tricolour in every home and the Tricolour in every heart,” he said.
Beginning his speech, Prime Minister Modi said, “Today, we are all celebrating the 80th Independence Day. Today, the heartbeat of every Indian resonates with the chant of ‘Vande Mataram.’ Today, there is the Tricolour in every home and the Tricolour in every heart. The country is moving forward today with enthusiasm and renewed resolve.”
He said, “My heartfelt wishes to all of you on Independence Day. Today, the nation once again remembers those great sons and daughters who made the ultimate sacrifice and endured immense hardships for the freedom of the country.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the freedom fighters devoted their entire lives to the single goal of independence through their penance, sacrifice and dedication. He paid his respectful tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and all the freedom fighters and great revolutionaries who inspired the nation’s glorious tradition of sacrifice.
PM Modi said, “For everyone present at this ceremony today, this is also a historic moment. For the first time since Independence, ‘Vande Mataram’ is being heard from the Red Fort on August 15. As we are celebrating 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’ today, what could be a more fitting and auspicious occasion than this?”
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi also mentioned the natural disasters that have affected parts of the country in recent days. He said that several parts of the country had witnessed severe flooding and landslides, affecting numerous families.
“We deeply feel their pain and suffering. I assure the affected families that we and the entire nation stand firmly with them,” he said.
