The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has announced the cancellation of its proposed peaceful protest march from India Gate to the new police headquarters on September 5. The party said the government has accepted all its demands.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, CJP chief spokesperson Sourav Das said, “Through you, I want to inform everyone that we are cancelling our peaceful protest march from India Gate to the new police headquarters scheduled for September 5 because the government has accepted all our demands.”
Sourav Das also raised questions about the Delhi Police’s use of facial recognition technology. He said the technology had reportedly identified around 2,800 alleged notorious criminals at the protest site. He argued that if these 2,800 notorious criminals were actually present there, the first question was why they were roaming freely in society. He added that if they had committed serious offences such as rape, murder or any other grave crime at the protest site, they should be investigated, prosecuted and sent to jail.
According to Das, the Supreme Court subsequently directed that a separate FIR be registered to investigate the approximately 2,800 notorious criminals identified in Delhi. He said the matter has now been resolved.
He also spoke about the issue of compensation. According to Sourav Das, the CJP had urged the government to inform the Supreme Court that compensation of a dignified amount would be provided within 90 days. The amount would be deposited directly into the bank accounts of the affected families. He said the government gave this assurance before the Supreme Court, which accepted it and incorporated it into its order, thereby giving it legal recognition.
The CJP spokesperson described the developments related to the July 25 incident as a major victory for the country’s youth. He said, “July 25 was a major victory for the youth of the country. At that time, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned. As you know, a joint press conference was held. CJP representatives Ashutosh and I held a joint press conference that same day with senior ministers J.P. Nadda and Jitendra Singh.”
He further said that the party had two major demands. The first was that compensation should be provided to families whose children had died by suicide allegedly due to the NEET paper leak. The second demand was the withdrawal of FIRs registered across the country against protesters, young people and students. According to the CJP, the government has agreed to both demands.
