BJP leader and MLA from Rajsamand in Rajasthan Kiran Maheshwari, who had tested positive for coronavirus, died at a hospital in Gurugram. She was 59. She died on Sunday (November 29) night at Medanta Hospital in Haryana's Gurugram of coronavirus. Maheshwari had tested positive for coronavirus few days ago and was admitted to Medanta Hospital after her condition worsened.
Maheshwari had contracted Covid-19 during October’s municipal corporation elections. She was one of the two election in-charges of the BJP for the Kota North Municipal Corporation (KNMC), Churu MLA Rajendra Rathore being the other.
She was also a Lok Sabha MP from 2004-2009 from Rajasthan's Udaipur constituency. PM Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and several other leaders condoled Maheshwari's demise.
