Bollywood filmmaker Subhash Ghai has shared an interesting anecdote involving Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He recalled a meeting with Narendra Modi when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. According to Ghai, the meeting was more than a formal interaction and left him with a lasting impression of Modi as a remarkable personality.
A video related to the incident was shared on the social media platform X by the ‘Modi Story’ account. The video recalls an incident from 2009, when filmmaker Subhash Ghai travelled to Gujarat to meet the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi regarding his project, Whistling Woods International.
In the video, the renowned filmmaker recalled his visit to Gujarat to meet Modi. Ghai said that when he reached Gujarat in 2009, he first went to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. He was told that the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi was in Mumbai that day.
The secretary immediately called Modi and informed him that Subhash Ghai was in Gujarat. According to Ghai, Modi asked the secretary to tell him to stay overnight and come to his residence for breakfast the following morning.
Ghai said that he met Modi over breakfast the next day and presented his project to him. During the presentation, he explained how Indian culture could be incorporated into education. He said that unless education included an artistic perspective, it would be difficult to ensure the overall development of children.
Ghai explained that this approach could incorporate the culture of Gujarat, Bengal, Punjab and other parts of India, and that cinema could play an important role in bringing this vision to life.
Ghai said Modi liked his ideas and presentation and asked him what he needed. Ghai replied that he wanted a piece of land near an airport so that teachers associated with the institute could easily travel there.
According to Ghai, Modi immediately told him that he had instructed his secretaries to help him select a suitable piece of land anywhere along the highway between Baroda and Ahmedabad. Modi also expressed his desire to see Whistling Woods International established in Ahmedabad.
Ghai recalled that Modi further told him that if his secretaries caused any problem or even delayed the process, he should contact him directly.
When Ghai pointed out that the officials were senior officers, Modi reportedly replied that they had a lot of work and were very busy, but the importance of what Ghai had presented was something he understood personally. He said he wanted the institute to be established there.
Ghai concluded by saying that the statement Narendra Modi made to him as Chief Minister was extremely significant because, according to him, no other Chief Minister had ever said anything like that to him.
