Music composer Wajid Khan of renowned composer duo Sajid-Wajid died at a Mumbai hospital in the wee hours of Monday because of complications from kidney infection. He was 42. Wajid Khan, best known for composing peppy Bollywood numbers along with his brother Sajid. His brother Sajid confirmed to news agency PTI that the musician had tested positive for COVID-1, and died of cardiac arrest. A source close to the family also confirmed the coronavirus diagnosis. "He had coronavirus. When you already have heart and kidney issues, your immunity is low. His situation worsened in the last few days," the source told.
In an interaction with the news agency, music composer Salim Merchant confirmed the cause of Khan's death. He revealed that the singer-composer was admitted in Chembur's Surana Hospital a few days ago where his condition deteriorated. "He had multiple issues. He had a kidney issue and had a transplant a while ago. But recently he got to know about kidney infection... He was on the ventilator for the last four days, after his situation started getting worse. Kidney infection was the beginning and then he got critical," Salim said in his statement.
Wajid Khan was born to tabla player Ustad Sharafat Ali Khan in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur. The singer-composer is the younger brother of composer Sajid Khan, with whom he composed several hit numbers.
