Significant progress has been made towards the implementation of Rajasthan’s ambitious Yamuna Water Project. The hydrology and interstate approvals required for preparing the project’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) have been issued. The information was shared during a review meeting on the progress of the Yamuna Water Project chaired by Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma.
The Chief Minister described the development as a major achievement for Rajasthan and an important step towards strengthening the state’s water resources. He said the approvals would help accelerate various construction activities under the project and further strengthen the state government’s efforts to ensure the availability of Yamuna water in Rajasthan.
The meeting was informed that a detailed review of the project’s DPR was conducted at the Central Water Commission in New Delhi on August 21, 2026. Chief Minister Sharma directed experts from the project consultant NABCONS and departmental officials to maintain continuous coordination and expedite the DPR approval process.
Additional Chief Secretary, Water Resources Department, Abhay Kumar said that out of the three reservoirs proposed at Hosiyawas in Churu district, the tender for the Dhanoti Reservoir has already been issued. The technical bid is scheduled to be opened on August 27.
The Chief Minister directed officials to complete the tendering process within the stipulated timeline and submit the proposal for the formation of the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) at the earliest, in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed on June 29, 2026.
Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister’s Office Akhil Arora and other officials from the concerned departments were also present at the meeting.
