Maharashtra coronavirus cases jump to 338, death toll stands at 17

The novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, pandemic has spread across 180 countries. Today is the eighth day of India's 21-day lockdown. Globally, there have been over 8.6 lakh confirmed cases of COVID-19.  At least 42,300 people have died so far. The United States, Italy and Spain have registered more deaths than China, where the outbreak started. The outbreak is having a major impact on global economy and the stock market.

4 more deaths, due to coronavirus, have taken place in Maharashtra today taking the total death toll in the state to 17. The total number of positive cases in the state has risen to 338, including 41 people who have been discharged.  The 56-year-old man from Dharavi who had been admitted to Sion hospital earlier in the evening after he was tested positive for coronavirus has died, civic body officials said.
