BJP MP and actress Kangana Ranaut has launched a sharp attack on veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah. Amid the ongoing debate over Bollywood’s role in student protests, Kangana targeted the actor over one of his earlier remarks. In a social media post, she referred to Naseeruddin Shah as a “fox” and questioned his loyalty towards the country.
Kangana shared an Instagram Story featuring a news report that referred to recent remarks made by actor Piyush Mishra about Naseeruddin Shah. The report also mentioned Shah’s earlier comment in which he had used the saying about “dogs with bones in their mouths” while questioning the silence of prominent Bollywood personalities.
Sharing the report, Kangana directly responded to Naseeruddin Shah. She wrote, “The truth is that everyone is someone’s dog, but I am proud that I guard and fight for the house (country) whose food I eat. Naseer sahab eats from this country but fights for the neighbouring country.”
In her post, Kangana further said, “These days, calling someone a dog is also a kind of compliment because loyalty and innocence are rarely seen. I would rather be called a dog than become a ‘fox’ like Naseeruddin Shah.”
Kangana’s remarks were linked to Naseeruddin Shah’s earlier comments questioning the silence of leading Bollywood personalities over student protests.
Naseeruddin Shah had been asked why several prominent Bollywood figures do not openly express their views amid protests and student movements taking place across the country. In response, Shah had said, “They will do so when their conscience tells them to. There is a saying that a dog with a bone in its mouth cannot bark. As soon as the bone falls from their mouth or their teeth break, they will bark.”
Actor Piyush Mishra later hit back at Shah’s remarks. While speaking in support of students protesting in Ranchi over issues related to the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), Mishra referred to Shah’s comment and said, “Those who have bones in their mouths cannot speak. But I want to ask Naseer sahab, whose mouths have bones in them right now? Did you remain silent because you were craving pizza and burgers, or because the crowd you were part of belonged to a particular group? I am sorry, Naseer sahab, but I am no longer afraid of you.”
