Ajmer/Jaipur/New Delhi. Indira Devnani, wife of Rajasthan Assembly Speaker and Ajmer North MLA Vasudev Devnani, was cremated in Ajmer on Tuesday. Her funeral procession departed from her residence in Ramnagar and reached Rishi Ghati Muktidham on Pushkar Road, where her son Mahesh Devnani lit the funeral pyre in an emotional atmosphere.
Prior to the cremation, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma placed a wreath on the body at her residence. Several state ministers, officials, and prominent city figures, including Union Minister of State for Agriculture Bhagirath Chaudhary, paid their respects to Indira Devnani. Her body was brought from Jaipur to Ajmer around 8:30 a.m., where family members, supporters, and local residents bid her a tearful farewell.
Cabinet Minister Suresh Rawat, Gajendra Singh Khinvsar, Sumit Godara, Gautam Dak, Omkar Singh Lakhawat, K.K. Bishnoi, former Minister Arun Chaturvedi, MLA Shankar Singh Rawat, Gopal Sharma, Devnarayan Board Chairman Omprakash Bhadana, Dairy Chairman Ramchandra Chaudhary, and former RTDC Chairman Dharmendra Singh Rathore, among others, were present.
It is noteworthy that Indira Devnani passed away late Monday evening while undergoing treatment at SMS Hospital. She had suffered a cardiac arrest on October 29th, underwent brain surgery, and was placed on a ventilator.
Indira Devnani was a teacher and played an active role in social service. She was married to Vasudev Devnani in 1974. She was the mother of a son and two daughters. Her passing has caused an outpouring of grief in the political and social circles.
