India on Saturday reported the biggest single-day spike of 57,117 coronavirus cases, taking the total number of cases to 16,95,988. With 764 deaths reported in the country due to novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, the country's death toll crossed 36,500. According to the health ministry's fresh update, there are a total of 5,65,103 active coronavuirus cases. Till now, a total of 10,94,374 people, who tested positive for the deadly new coronavirus, have been cured or discharged.
Maharashtra - the country's worst-hit state - reported a total of 10,320 new cases and 265 deaths on Friday, taking the total cases to 4,22,118 cases. The state has logged the highest number of cases in India followed by Tamil Nadu with 2,45,859 cases.
1,195 cases came on Friday in Delhi and the total is at 1,35,598 cases. Delhi’s number of active cases are at 10,705. Delhi now has 496 containment zones as the next round of serological survey to trace cases will start on Saturday. Read More...
