India Covid-19 tally crosses 79 lakh, death toll to 1,19,014

India's coronavirus infections reached over 79 lakh, with 45,149 new cases being reported in the past 24 hours. This is the lowest daily spike reported in India in over three months. With the fresh number of cases, India's coronavirus caseload has climbed to 79,09,960. According to the health ministry, 480 coronavirus patients have succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours taking the death toll to 1,19,014. Meanwhile, India crossed a milestone with total recoveries crossing 70 lakh on Monday, according to health ministry. A total of 71,37,228 people have recuperated from the disease so far pushing the national recovery rate to over 90 per cent.

Moreover, India's coronavirus testing also hit the 10 crore-mark on Monday. The Indian Council for Medical Research on Monday informed that India has so far tested 10,34,62,778 samples for coronavirus. Of these, 9,39, 309 samples were tested on Sunday. India's total active coronavirus cases now stand at 6,53,717 after a decrease of 14,437 in the past 24 hours, according to the health ministry. The active cases comprise of 8.26 per cent of the total cases in India while the death rate currently stands at 1.50 per cent.
