Huawei has just pushed back the launch of their dual-pane Huawei Mate X folding smartphone, but as is normal their engineers have not stopped working on the next version of the technology. LetsGoDigital has uncovered a patent application dating to summer 2018 which was published a few weeks ago by the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office) on 31 May 2019. When folded the device would look like a somewhat conventional if thick smartphone, but with a screen which wraps around both edges of the device. The magic happens when these edges unfurl.
That opens up two extra full-sized screens which turn the device into a very reasonable-sized tablet. The two folding edges also give a number of other options, including a “stand” mode which would let the device stand up by itself, for video conferencing for example. Read More...
