Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has spent a major part of his life surrounded by cameras and films, but when it comes to home and family, his personality appears quite different. On the popular television quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 18, Amitabh often shares anecdotes from his personal life. During a recent episode, he opened up about his relationship with his wife and actress Jaya Bachchan and shared some interesting details.
During the show, contestant Preeti Raj asked Amitabh a personal question. She wanted to know whether his wife Jaya Bachchan scolds him when he reaches home late at night. Smiling at the question, Amitabh said, “I already know what could happen if I reach home late. So, to avoid getting scolded, I make preparations in advance.”
He explained, “As soon as I wake up in the morning, I send a message to the family group informing everyone about where I have to shoot and that I may reach home late. I apologise in advance and say, ‘Today our shoot is at different locations, so I will be late. Please don’t wait for me for dinner.’”
The contestant then asked what happens if he reaches home late without informing anyone. Amitabh replied, “In that situation, Jaya asks me, ‘Where were you? You didn’t inform me. Is this a time to come home?’ If I get very late, Jaya has her dinner and goes to sleep.”
During the conversation, Amitabh was also asked whether he takes care of household chores himself when domestic staff are not available at home. The veteran actor said, “Whether there are four people working at home or eight or ten, if the staff is not there, I handle everything myself. I clean the house. I don’t know how to cook. So, if there is nobody at home to prepare food, sometimes I order food from outside, and sometimes I ask Jaya to cook.”
Amitabh also shared a heartwarming anecdote about asking Jaya to cook for him. He said, “Whenever I ask Jaya to cook, she gets very excited. She prepares different kinds of dishes for me and, after serving the food, asks me how I liked it. I really love food cooked by Jaya.”
During the conversation, Amitabh also mentioned a special dish prepared by Jaya. He revealed that he had stopped eating kheer, but recently Jaya prepared mango kheer for him. Amitabh then expressed his affection for his wife on camera, saying, “Thank you, Jaya, for this mango kheer.”
