India women T20I captain Harmanpreet Kaur on Friday became the most capped Indian in the shortest format of the game. When Kaur took the field against South Africa Women in the 6th T20I of the ongoing series in Surat, she registered her 100th T20I match in the Indian jersey. Till date, no other Indian player apart from Harmanpreet - man or woman - has played 100 T20Is. Next on this list comes Indian legend MS Dhoni with 98 T20I appearances while India men's ODI vice-captain Rohit Sharma follows is also tied with Dhoni on 98 caps.
On the overall list, New Zealand's Suzie Bates, Australian Ellyse Perry and Pakistan's Shoaib Malik lead the pack with 111 T20I appearances each. While Malik is the only man to have featured in 100 T20Is, 10 women (including Kaur) have now played 100 or more shortest-format games for their respective countries.
Earlier on Thursday, Indian women's team produced another authoritative performance to comfortably defeat South Africa by five wickets in the fifth T20 International, taking an unassailable 3-0 lead in the six-match series.
