Google on Today (September 29) remembered iconic Indian actress and dancer Zohra Segal who is India's first female actors to get recognition globally. The special doodle has her animated picture in a classical dance posture with floral background. The special doodle on Zohra Segal is designed by artist Parvati Pillai. ehgal was born on April 27, 1912, in Saharanpur. She breathed her last in New Delhi. She was 102 at the time of her death.
Her film ‘Neecha Nagar’ had released today in 1946 at the Cannes Film Festival and had reportedly won the festival’s highest honour, the Palme d’Or prize. The film went on to become Indian cinema’s first international critical success and also received the festival’s highest honour - Palme d’Or prize.
While the renowned actor started her career only at the age of 28, she became a force to be reckoned with as she continued to appear on the big screen for around six decades. For her contribution to the field, Zohra Sehgal received many accolades and awards including Padma Shri in 1998, the Kalidas Samman (2001) and Padma Vibhushan in 2010.
