COVID-19: India records 6,654 cases in 24 hours tally crosses 1.25 lakh, death toll past 3,700

The Covid-19 pandemic in India grew by the highest number yet on Friday when as many as 6,654 cases were detected across the country. The Health Ministry Friday said that 3,234 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours. A total of 51,784 people have recovered. The total number of coronavirus patients in India increased to 1,25,101, while the death toll climbed to 3,720.  India has the 11th highest cases across the world. Maharashtra continues to be the worst-affected state in the country with 41,642 active cases.

Coronavirus infected over 44,000 people in Maharashtra. Mumbai alone confirmed over 25,000 cases. The fatalities in the state rose to 1,500. Tamil Nadu continued to add over 700 cases for the third consecutive day. At least 786 fresh cases were detected on Friday, taking the total coronavirus tally in the state to 14,753.

Delhi also saw its highest single-day cases in last 24 hours. As many as 660 people tested positive for novel coronavirus on Friday. The total number of coronavirus patients in the national capital stood at 12,319. Gujarat registered over 350 new cases on Friday. The coronavirus count in Gujarat increased to 13,268. The death toll surged past 800 in the state.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan reported 48 fresh positive cases of coronavirus till 9 am on Saturday morning. The state's number of deaths has also climbed by two, taking it to 155. The total number of positive cases in Rajasthan has now surged to 6,542, while active cases have hiked to 2,695, the state's health department said. Read More...
