Television is full of quiz shows where contestants are asked questions related to general knowledge, history, science and entertainment and can win large cash prizes by answering correctly. Now, viewers are set to witness a different kind of game show where bookish knowledge alone will not be enough.
In this new show, understanding, logical thinking and common sense used in everyday life will matter the most. Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor will take charge as the host of the upcoming quiz game show India’s Top 1 Percent.
Anil Kapoor will soon be seen hosting the new quiz game show India’s Top 1 Percent. He has shared several interesting details about the format and said that the show will be quite different from other quiz programmes. Instead of testing contestants on their ability to remember difficult facts, the show will require them to use their reasoning and understanding.
Talking about the show, Anil Kapoor said, “There will be a total of 13 questions. These questions will primarily be based on common sense. The most interesting part is that instead of one or two contestants, 100 players will participate in the game simultaneously. After every question, the answers of a large number of players will be revealed. Those who answer incorrectly may be eliminated from the game and could also lose their money.”
He added, “The game will begin with every player receiving ₹1 lakh. That means all 100 contestants will initially have ₹1 lakh each. As the game progresses and players give incorrect answers, their money will move into the prize pool. After all 13 questions are completed, the prize pool can grow to a maximum of ₹1 crore. This means contestants will not only have to focus on giving the correct answer but will also have to protect the money they have.”
Anil Kapoor further revealed that another unique feature of the show is that viewers sitting at home will also get an opportunity to participate. People watching the programme on television or mobile devices will be able to answer the questions and test their own understanding.
Anil Kapoor said, “This is a platform where people’s common sense will be valued and rewarded. Many questions cannot be answered simply through bookish knowledge; they require common sense and the ability to think in the right way. India’s Top 1 Percent will bring this idea to viewers in the form of a game.”
India’s Top 1 Percent is the Indian adaptation of the popular international game-show format The 1% Club, which originated in the United Kingdom in 2022. The format subsequently became popular and was adapted in several countries. It has been adopted in around 15 countries, including the United States, Australia, Germany, Spain, France, Israel and Mexico.
In India, Anil Kapoor will host the show in his distinctive style. India’s Top 1 Percent will premiere on September 5, 2026, on Star Plus and JioHotstar.
