Despite the child reporting the ordeal to the manager, no action was taken against the perpetrator, and the victim was pressured into silence instead.Following the intervention of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), the victim was safely rescued and placed in a government girls' shelter home. The police have registered an FIR under sections of rape and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, initiating a formal investigation.Matter Unearthed Due to Former Teacher's VigilanceThe victim's mother had passed away a few years ago. Suffering from alcohol addiction, her father abandoned the child at the ashram approximately six months ago and never returned to check on her.Victim Confides in Teacher: A teacher who had previously taught the minor occasionally visited the ashram to meet her and provide essential supplies. On August 5, during one such visit, the child broke down in tears and narrated her ordeal of sexual abuse.Alerting Child Helpline: The teacher promptly reported the matter to the Child Helpline.Rescue on August 6: Acting on the report, the Child Helpline team rescued the minor on August 6 and produced her before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), which subsequently sheltered her at the government shelter home."Please Don't Send Me Back..." Victim Breaks Down During CounselingCWC Chairperson Yashoda Panihar stated that the girl was deeply terrified and traumatized during counseling sessions. She broke down, pleading desperately not to be sent back to the ashram.Panihar revealed that the accused took advantage of moments when the child was alone to commit the abuse. Despite the victim's resistance and repeated complaints to the manager, she received no protection. On instructions from the Committee, an official FIR was registered at the local police station on August 13.Superintendent of Police Personally Records StatementRecognizing the gravity of the case, Superintendent of Police Dr. Amrita Duhan inspected the government girls' shelter home to assess the arrangements and personally interacted with the victim to record her statement.The victim reiterated to the SP that she had repeatedly informed the ashram manager, but her pleas were ignored. The Superintendent of Police assured a fair, thorough investigation and strict legal action against all those responsible.
